Effortless Mastery by Kenny Werner is a great book for any musician, and it has literally changed the way people all over the globe think about their lives and their music. Kenny's candid confession of frustrations regarding his own early development really reveal how everyone struggles to reach a place of mastery, no matter what facade of confidence they present publicly. It is an inspiring book that seems to immediately connect with musicians. Check out Kenny’s “writings” page at this site.

Free Play by Steven Nachmanovitch is another phenomenal book about music, mastery, and creativity. An absolute must-read.

Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche is a meditation teacher trained in the Nyingma and Kagyu schools of Tibetan Buddhism. He is the holder of the Shambhala Buddhist lineage established by his father, the late Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Stefan Grosman’s Guitar Workshop is a treasure trove of fingerstyle guitar transcriptions, books, CD’s, and videos. I learned the alternating bass style by studying his “fingerstyle guitar” and “blues guitar” books, later adding my own knowledge of composition, theory, and the guitar fingerboard to the mix.

Definitive transcriptions of Michael Hedges, Leo Kottke, Joseph Spence and many more virtuoso fingerstyle guitarists.
